Once again this morning I wa slistening to music, this time something much smoother than propagandhi. Probably a lot of you know about Portishead its a known band. So I was listening to the song Pedestal and I realised there was a small part of trumpet in the song. You have to know that last summer I started playing trumpet for the fun of it. So there I was telling myself how nice to would be to learn that small part. So im at my station searching the web for this small part which I could not find evedently. So I went to their website in hope of asking them politely if they could provide me with this part. As I tough, there was no way to contact the band except for a forum and myspace, which im sure I would have never been seen in there.
Wouldn't it be nice to start a new music compgny. A compagny much more interested in helping the band make their music known, much more interested in helping the band get in touch with their fans. And much less interested in humoungus profits.
So I saw it, the new music compagny.
The music, the band, the fans, whats best!
Catchy isn't it?
So I was wondering what would prevent me to start the first ever Coop Music store.
Here is the plan.
How would this compagny work. It would be a cooperative.
Every member would have a small amout to pay to be in it.
Fans would have something like 5$ to be a member and have acces to the site
Band would have something like 100$ to 1000$ to pay to be a hosted band.
Then there on the site it would be a huge portal for all the bands and the fans.
Where you could write on the bands forum, keep in touch with the band.
With every band tour, there would be a employee following them around
making updates on the site, keeping fan apprised of whats happening.
There you could buy the band merch, their album at a fair price.
When you would buy an album, you would receive two CDs, one with
the audio track and one with the mp3s or other digitalized format
( mp3, wma, in various bit rates) For the bands many services would
be available at very competitive price. Fans surveys and stats, production
help. ( producers, mixers, freelance musician listings to help produce album)
The most important thing is that it wouldn't be done for the money, it
woul;d be done for the art, as much as for those making it as those who
just enjoy it.
Anyway if you stumble about on this blog, please leave a comment, tell me what you think?

I'll never pledge allegiance
I was listening to one of my really favorite band of all time this morning and as usual i was delighting myself with the flavor of their lyrics when i heard one sentence. Its not that I had never heard it, its more that I had never really paid attention to it. But this morning it really hit me in the face and I took time to think about it.
Oh yeah you must be asking yourself what band is it? Well the band is propagandhi its a small Canadian punk rock band. They used to have their own recording compagny called G7 Welcomming commitee. But a few years back they closed their doors to my regrets.
Anyway im sure that if you are interested in propagandhi you'll find plenty of info on the net.
So the song in question was a old, very old hit from my teen years.. I was listening to that for the first time around 1994-1995. It's call "showdown" and the sentence in question is: " I never have and never will pledge allegiance" But what triggered my thinking was the mix with the sentence that com,e just before "I do not require a gauge for freedoms of speech cuz I never asked to be a citizen."
And thats when it did boom... I realisez I too never pledge allegiance, and that I never asked to be a citizen. Dont read me wrong here.. I never asked to be a citizen doesn't mean Im not proud of my country. I am Canadian and well without being proud of being a Canadian, because I cant be proud of something that isn't an accomplishment, I do like what we have done with our country. (That statement is not recursive, I mean it is true at the time of writing, it might not be, when you are reading it) But I never did asked to be a citizen, I was born a citizen. I then asked myself, would you pledge allegiance if you were asked to? You know we've all seen it in a movie or somewhere else how immigrant are asked to pledge in the US. Is it like that in canada? When people immigrate to Canada, do they have to pledge allegiance?
For myself I would never pledge allegiance, why you say? Well I dont consider myself a Canadian, I dont consider myself a North American, neither an American (and by american I dont mean United Statians. People of the Unied States often refer themselves as American and it really bothers me, because they are not more american than a Guatemalan or a Brazillian or a Canadian, they should refer themselves as United Statians. Anyway, they pledge themselves to the United States of America, not to the America.) I consider myself a citizen of planet earth. I consider myself a human being and a man. Country, states and other delimitation of teritory have been created only for that purpose, to make people oppose themselves, to make differences between humans, to create chaos within. I dont want to be a part of it.
So I wonder, if I were asked to pledge allegiance and I refused to do it, what would happen to me? Would I be thrown out of my country and since I will refuse to pledge to any country and or division of territory, would I be left in the international seas to fend for myself?
Well I would have liked to continue a bit further but its time to work.
